Ribbon Road
Brenda Heslop is a songwriter from Northumberland who has been writing songs for 20 years and has recorded six albums. Her husband Geoff, (famed producer of many classic 70's releases), arranges and records them as well as often playing the instruments and providing the harmonies. The arrangements have an original quality, often using folk tunes as a secondary melody to the main tune.

The sound is very much based on their harmony singing, accentuating the words of these beautifully crafted and haunting songs.

The background of the hills of Northumberland, where she has lived and worked all her life provides her with the imagery and subject matter - whether a comment on the changes in rural life, the habit that love has of fading away, or just the things she loves the best - her home and the peace she finds there,

"Tender, intimate and haunting, these songs are genuinely moving" (fRoots)

Geoff's paintings, which often illustrate Brenda's songs, will be exhibited at the same time. The exhibition of paintings will run for a few days after the concert and entrance to the exhibition will be free from Sunday 28 Aug.

Ribbon Road are supported on this occasion by singer-songwriter Caitlin McNeill. Seventeen teen-year-old Cailtin is a student at The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton.
