Kaela Rowan & Friends at Celtic Connections 2008
Former Mouth Music vocalist, Kaela Rowan, performs songs from her forthcoming solo album. An inimitable voice sings songs of life, love, laughter and loss.
And what friends she has! Her backing singers are Heather Macleod (whose acclaimed solo debut Crossing Tides, featured double bass legend Danny Thompson, double Grammy-winning harmonica heavyweight Sugar Blue, and alt.classical pioneers Mr McFall's Chamber), and Gina Rae, (member of the Rae dynasty of musicians; tutor at Fionna Duncan's Vocal Jazz Workshops; debut single voted Radio 1 Record of the week; a recent collaboration with guitarist Sandy Wright has resulted in their new album "On Main Street").
Her backing musicians have played with too many people to mention here but suffice to say that their day job is being one half of Shooglenifty: James Mackintosh on drums, Quee Macarthur on bass, and Luke Plumb, (who was here previously with fiddler Simon Bradley), on guitar.
